Who we are
Teekr is a trading name of Smoulder and Scorch Ltd and provides web-based restaurant operations software. For privacy questions or to exercise your data rights, contact teekr@teekr.co.uk.
Our role
Smoulder and Scorch Ltd, trading as Teekr, is the data controller for account, billing, website enquiry and support information. A subscribing venue is normally the controller for the employee and operational information it enters into Teekr, while Teekr processes that information to provide the service.
Information we collect
- Account details such as name, email address, venue and login information.
- Billing status, subscription references and limited payment-card details supplied by Stripe. Teekr does not store full card numbers.
- Staff and operational records entered by a venue, including rota, attendance, training, food-safety, checklist and diary information.
- Support, demo, service and feedback enquiries.
- Security and technical information needed to authenticate users, protect accounts and diagnose faults.
How and why we use information
We process information where it is necessary to:
- perform our contract and provide the Teekr service;
- administer subscriptions, payments, support and venue access;
- protect the platform, prevent misuse and maintain audit records;
- meet legal, tax and accounting obligations; and
- pursue legitimate interests such as improving reliability and responding to enquiries, where those interests do not override individual rights.
Where consent is required, such as for certain marketing or non-essential cookies, we will ask for it separately.
Who we share information with
We use trusted service providers to operate Teekr, including Supabase for authentication and cloud data services, Stripe for subscription payments, our website hosting provider and email delivery providers. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect legal rights. We do not sell personal information.
International transfers
Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where this happens, we use providers and contractual safeguards designed to protect personal information in accordance with UK data-protection law.
How long we keep information
- Operational records are retained for up to 18 months in line with Teekr’s service retention rules.
- Inactive venues remain read-only and can access only unexpired records within that retention period.
- Account and support information is retained while needed to provide the service, resolve issues and meet legal obligations.
- Billing and transaction records may be retained for the period required by tax, accounting and fraud-prevention requirements.
Information is deleted or anonymised when it is no longer reasonably required.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to be informed, access information, correct inaccurate information, request deletion, restrict processing, object to processing and receive portable data. Contact us to make a request. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Security and changes
Teekr uses access controls, venue separation and appropriate technical measures to protect information. No online system can be guaranteed completely secure. We may update this notice when the service or legal requirements change and will publish the revised date on this page.
